We met on one of West Maui's beautiful beaches for the surprise session of Elizabeth's life. Spencer wanted to start the shoot under the ruse it was "just a regular photoshoot" so there was no hiding in the bushes for me this time. Somehow he had held a perfect poker face during Elizabeth's attempts to pry the truth from him. She suspected it could be a proposal moment, but his fierce insistence that it wasn't had her fooled (or at least mostly fooled). We waited about a 1/3 of the way through the session, to really sell the ruse when I placed them back to back with a prompt for a fun photo I had in mind. She may have suspected at this moment, but when she turned around there was only the overwhelming joy at the sight she saw behind her. It was true, the proposal had happened! With lots of laughter and teasing banter, we enjoyed the rest of our session in the giddy glow of love.
